This £21 paddling pool with sprinklers is perfect for dogs reviewed

Summer is finally here in the UK after a slow but steady start- and we wanted to get our pooch prepared.

With more scorching days ahead we thought it was time for a product review with a difference – instead of myself reviewing the £21 paddling pool with sprinklers I thought it would be more useful to let my new rescue dog, Georgie, do her first product test.

Georgie, a terrier cross from Romania had only been with us a few weeks and at five months old had never seen a paddling pool or sprinkler before so we were not sure what to expect with the budget option from Amazon.

It arrived the next day via Amazon Prime and the instructions were simple; use the nozzle provided to attach to a garden hose and turn it on. The pool itself is shallow, with tiny holes around the edge that turn into makeshift sprinklers once it is filled up.

While it’s not a particularly efficient use of water – the taps need to be running the whole time – it does fill quickly and Georgie was able to play straight away. She loved the jets of water and was quickly biting and nipping at them excitedly.

The shallow pool is perfect for cooling off hot doggy paws and after a brief moment of hesitance she was straight in to splash around.

At £21 it’s the perfect cheap distraction for a puppy that can be hyperactive when excited and it kept her entertained for half an hour. In fact, she got so excited chasing the jets of water that we had zoomies around the garden and a very mucky pup by the end of the day. The resulting bath was definitely not as popular as the paddling pool itself.

Overall myself and Georgie would highly recommend the pool. It’s compact, easy to set up and great fun for a water-loving dog. My only concern would be the fact the tap always needs to be on if you want the jets on – meaning you will need plenty of drainage and you will use a lot of water.

It can also make a bit of a mess as some of the holes do not point inwards, so make sure you clear the surrounding area.

You can turn them off and it acts as a very shallow paddling pool – perhaps not enough for kids to enjoy but ideal for a dog to cool off if needed.

The price is excellent and I was surprised how well it worked. Georgie gives it four our of five stars. You can buy it here.
