Earn £5,000 drinking free beer from brewery

Getting paid £5,000 to drink free beer will sound like the perfect money-making scheme for many.

And Camden Town Brewery wants to do just that, when it appoints one lucky beer lover its Chief Freshness Officer.

As well as a one-off payment of £5,000, the successful applicant will receive a free 24 pack of Camden beer every month for one year to “test for freshness and share with friends and family”.

A spokesperson for the brewery said: “You may have seen from our recent super serious announcement that we ‘accidentally’ pasteurised a handful of our Hells Lager cans.

“So, to stop history repeating itself, we’re after a Chief Freshness Officer with a taste for the fresh stuff, who will ensure we’re always serving up the fresh tasting, never pasteurised beers our Camden fans know and love.

“We’re not asking for any experience in the beer industry, or any industry for that matter, all we want is a beer lover with a passion for all things fresh.

“As Chief Freshness Officer your main role will be drinking beer and making sure it tastes great – sounds hard, right? Each month, we’ll send you a case of our much-loved Hells Lager for you to ‘fresh-test’, making sure it tastes ultra fresh.

“And when you’re not tasting fresh beer, all we ask is that you help spread the word on why beer should never EVER be pasteurised. All this requires is answering ‘Never!’ if anyone asks if Camden Town Brewery should start pasteurising beer, and that’s kind of it…

“We know it’s a strenuous task, drinking beer and getting paid for it, but someone needs to do it. That’s why we’re offering a one-off payment of £5,000 in return for your time (and your tastebuds).

“All we ask is that our ideal candidate has a passion for fresh-tasting beer, and a birth certificate that confirms they’re over 25.”

Zoe Wulfsohn-Dunkley, Head of Brand Marketing at Camden Town Brewery, added: “We’re known for serving never pasteurised beer that’s crisp, full of flavour, and most importantly, fresh.

“As our CFO, or Chief Freshness Officer, you’ll be in charge of making sure we continue to not do the one thing we promised to never do: pasteurise our precious beer.

“We’re looking for someone who loves fresh beer as much as we do, and who understands why pasteurisation is the worst thing we could do ever to our beers. In return, we’ll send you Camden beer, and all you have to do is drink it. It doesn’t get much easier and yet more important than that.”
