Restaurant serves world’s most expensive portion of chips costing £144

A restaurant is serving the world’s most expensive portion of chips costing £144 – fries blanched in champagne, dusted with 23K gold and covered in shaved truffle.

The ‘creme de la creme pommes frites’ at Serendipity3 are scalded in nothing less than Dom Pérignon champagne.

Chefs at the New York eatery – which counts singer Selena Gomez as an invertor – then triple cook the high quality Chipperbec potatoes in posh pure goose fat from France.

The fries are then topped with J. LeBlanc French Champagne-Ardenne vinegar, shaved Crete Senesi pecorino tartufello and black summer truffles from Italy

Finally they are seasoned with Guerande truffle salt, sprinkled with 23 carot edible gold dust and served on a Baccarat crystal Arabesque plate.

And there is no ketchup in sight.

The chips come with mornay sauce made with udder cream, black truffle butter, gruyere truffled Swiss raclete – bringing the price up to $200 USD (£144).

They have been recognised by Guinness as the world’s most expensive fries.

The posh potatoes were crafted by chefs Joe Calderone and Frederick Schoen-Kiewert, to celebrate of National French Fry Day on July 13.

Creative director Joe said: “We are so honoured to be recognised by Guinness World Records for our creation of the most expensive French fries – the Creme de la Creme Pommes Frites – and look forward to creating even more over-the-top recipes in the future.”

This title accompanies the eatery’s existing records which include the most expensive milkshake, sandwich, and dessert.

Chefs there have also constructed the largest wedding cake and biggest cup of hot chocolate.
