Inside the new St Stephen’s diner-style eatery Pitta and Shake

American-style diner Pitta and Shake has opened in St Stephen’s shopping centre.

The new spot opened at 11.30am on Monday morning and proved to be a hit within the first half an hour of service.

It is open until 9pm and is said to bring “something different” to the shopping complex; offering grilled meat pittas, thick shakes, and endless sides.

The diner and takeaway was founded by Hull businessman Alex Lee, who recently opened the Frozen Co – which serves frozen Fanta and Coca Cola in the shopping centre.

After his initial successful venture he secured the old El Taco unit in St Stephen’s food court to open a “Subway style” new diner.

All the dishes are sourced from Hull suppliers and there is so much to choose from on the menu.

But, despite the name of the new spot, there is so much more on offer than just pitta and shakes. There are ice blasts, loaded fries, nachos, chicken wings, mini chicken and cheese bites.

The diner has teamed up with popular Beverley bakery 42nd East Bakehouse, meaning their extremely popular cookies and brownies are in Hull for the first time.

Owner Alex said: “I’m a Hull lad and it’s a Hull product – we are putting a substantial investment into St Stephen’s.”
