Jenny and Lee pay heartfelt tribute to late Gogglebox co-star Mary Cook

Gogglebox Hull duo Jenny Newby and Lee Riley have paid tribute to their co-star, Mary Cook, who has died at the age of 92.

They posted the heartfelt tribute on their official Instagram account and described Mary as a ‘colourful character’ and a ‘lovely lady.’

Channel 4 and Studio Lambert, who make the programme, confirmed in a statement that Mary died in hospital with her family beside her at the weekend.

On their Instagram page, Jenny and Lee posted a photo of Mary. The caption reads: “Our heart felt sympathy to Mary’s family and Marina and friends and all at Gogglebox such a colourful character and lovely lady you will be solely missed by all who knew and loved you RIP Mary (broken heart emoji) Jenny and Lee.”

Former hospitality worker Mary joined the popular TV show in 2016 and starred alongside her friend, Marina Wingrove.

The cheeky pair from Bristol were loved by fans around the country and renowned for making viewers laugh.

Mary and Marina have been friends for over 10 years after meeting each other at a retirement village.

Jenny and Lee joined Gogglebox in 2014, just two years before Mary and Marina.
