Here’s how you can make the famous McDonald’s milkshake at home

McDonald’s fans across the country have been left disappointed by news the fast-food giant has had to take its famous milkshakes off the menu.

The restaurant chain was forced to take the item off the menu as it tries to deal with supply chain issues.

Other firms have suffered similar problems, thought to be caused by a shortage of lorry drivers owing to some workers returning to EU countries, Covid restrictions and self-isolation.

Fans of the shakes have expressed their frustration, describing the drink as “the world’s only proven hangover cure”.

One fan said that the absence of the milkshake will have a “major impact on productivity nationwide.”

But on Instagram, @cakeontherun has posted an easy vanilla variation that you can make and best thing is it takes less than one minute to create.

Milkshake recipe

Ingredients

  • 6 tbsp vanilla ice cream
  • 150ml any milk
  • 3-4 ice cubes
    • Vanilla : Add a drop of vanilla essence or a teaspoon of icing sugar
    • Chocolate : Add two tablespoons of any drinking chocolate powder, such as Nesquik or Options Hot Chocolate (do not use cocoa because it is too bitter)
    • Strawberry : Add two tablespoons of Nesquik strawberry
    • Banana : Add two tablespoons of Nesquik banana. Or, for a more subtle flavour, add a chopped banana

Method

  • Put all of the ingredients into a blender and blitz for a few seconds until smooth and creamy.
