And whilst the popular show recently won a TRIC Award for Entertainment, many viewers have been left disappointed as a number of the cast have not returned – with one departing chatterbox lifting the lid on what really goes on.

Birmingham’s Paige Deville revealed last week that she has quit the Channel Four show after a falling out with mum and co-star Sally Hayward.

Each star is reportedly paid £100 per episode, according to Paige.

Channel 4 has not released details for individual families, but it’s reported they make more than £1,000 per month.

As well as getting free takeaways to tuck into while they are watching all the different TV shows, Gogglebox stars can expect to be paid £1,500 a month, reports Chronicle Live.

How is the show filmed?

Filming is usually around a nine-hour shift starting in the afternoon.

Filming would start at 3.30pm and go on till 12.30am, while filming a series can take part in up to three filming sessions per week.

There are usually five people from Gogglebox at every filming session including a cameraman, producer, assistant producer, sound engineer and runner.

Who has not returned for series 18?

There is a bittersweet feeling in the air as a number of fan favourites will not be returning.

Following the sad deaths of three stars who passed away over the summer, their loved ones have all decided not to take part in the new series.

June saw Pete McGarry die at the age of 71 and his widow Linda won’t be returning to the show without him.

In August, Andrew Michael passed away aged 61. His widow Carolyne and their children Alex and Louis won’t be back.

And after Mary Cook died at the age of 92, her best friend Marina Wingrove has decided to step away from our screens.

Lancs Live reports Gogglebox’s executive producer Victoria Ray said: “We have had people from the show pass away recently. We lost Mary and Andy. And a little while ago we lost Pete.

“Their loved ones won’t be taking part in the show for the moment. Understandably, they want their privacy.”

The stars who have left the show have the option to return in the future if they want to.

Gogglebox fans were left heartbroken by the deaths of Pete, Andrew and Mary. And the team behind the show have also been hit by grief over the losses.

Gogglebox airs Friday at 9pm on Channel Four.
