Newly dubbed ‘Hullywood’ is gearing itself up for the arrival of A-list stars as the filming of Netflix film Enola Holmes 2 is rumoured to have started early in Hull city centre.
Filming was due to start at the end of the week but rehearsals are starting today and some early shots are also said to be being filmed on the streets of Old Town.
The original Enola Holmes movie was released last year and starred Stranger Things’ Millie Bobby Brown as the title character and Henry Cavill as Enola’s brother Sherlock Holmes – both will return for the sequel.
The first installment raked in over 76 million views within four weeks, making it one of Netflix’s most successful movies of all time.
Holmes’ third sibling Mycroft Holmes, will be played by Sam Claflin for the second time and two-time Oscar winner Helena Bonham Carter will reprise her original role of Eudoria Holmes, the mother of Enola.
Also joining the cast for the sequel will be Susan Wokoma, David Thewlis, Adeel Akhtar, Sharon Duncan-Brewster, Abbie Hern, Hannah Dodd, Gabriel Tierney, Serrana Su-Ling Bliss, and Louis Partridge will return as love interest Tewksbury.
Writer Jack Thorne and director Harry Bradbeer will also return for Enola Holmes 2.
