Cadbury has revealed they will be launching their very first vegan chocolate bar next month.
The new bars will be available in two different flavours, ‘Smooth Chocolate’ and ‘Smooth Chocolate with Salted Caramel pieces’.
The chocolatier apologised for the delay in releasing the plant-based products stating they ‘simply wanted it to be perfect’ and ‘perfection takes time’.
The dairy-free bars contain a blend of cocoa, almond paste and rice extract to deliver a smooth texture.
From November, the Cadbury Plant Bars will be in all Sainsbury’s stores and priced at £2.50 each, reports The Mirror.
You’ll be able to find them in all other supermarkets and newsagents from January 2022.
Many who follow plant-based diets will be eager to get their hands on a bar, as a survey suggested that quarter of vegans missed Cadbury Dairy Milk more than any other chocolate.
The bars took two years to develop and on the announcement the much-loved confectionary brand issued an apology to plant-based Brits for the long wait.
They said: “Dear plant-based Britain, we’re sorry.
“Sorry it’s taken this long. Sorry it seemed like we weren’t listening to your calls. Sorry for not being able to respond to the rumours. And sorry for all the other chocolate you’ve had to eat while you waited.
“We simply wanted it to be perfect. And, just as with plants, perfection takes time. But the Cadbury Plant Bar is finally ready.
“A delicious smooth chocolate without the “glass and half”. We hope you’ll agree it was worth the wait.”
Marketing Manager at Cadbury, Michael Moore said: “We’re delighted to finally confirm that the rumours swirling around Cadbury Plant Bar are true!
“We’ve worked hard to add this delicious, dairy-free option to our iconic range, and we can only apologise for making our fans wait,” he added.
“Ensuring we deliver against our commitment to exceptional flavour has taken quite some time, but as of November, the wait is over.”
