Tricky quiz tells you how old you are when it comes to maths

A new widget can tell you how good your maths skills really are.

Posing the question ‘are you better at maths than a school pupil?’ the quiz is made up of 25 questions and was created by virtual maths tutoring service, Maths-Whizz.

Each question has been selected by teaching experts and is relevant to key topics typically taught to children at different stages of their education.

There are five rounds of five questions on topics ranging from written numbers to geometry.

At the end of the 25 questions, the quiz will give you a ‘maths age’.

Put simply, a maths age is essentially your core mathematical knowledge put in a number. That might sound like an abstract concept but it is easy enough to understand – a maths age of 8.5, for example, means you are performing at the overall level expected of an eight-and-a-half year old.

And before you scoff at the idea of getting a score of 8.5 be warned. These questions are trickier than they look and getting a score in the low teens is actually very impressive.

Don’t get disheartened if you don’t score as high as you like, the quiz can show you where you went wrong and so you can go back and give it another go if you’re determined.
