The Halloween dog show returns to Cottingham

The Cottingham Equestrian Centre is set to host their Halloween dog show again this year after missing out in 2020.

The Centre, situated behind the Cottingham Parks Golf & Leisure Club, hosts a number of events and competitions throughout the year.

The pandemic and social distancing restrictions have caused some disruption to their calendar over the past 18 months.

The Halloween dog show will take place on Saturday 23rd October.

Speaking to Hull Live, Nikki and Lauren from the Equestrian Centre said: “We have been hosting Dog Shows alongside our usual Equestrian Events for many years.

“Over the last couple of years we have been restricted like everyone else because of the pandemic. So we can’t wait to be running this one in somewhat normal circumstances.

“Our Halloween Dog Show is a fun event aimed at all the family.

“We have run this event in the past but had a break last year due to Covid.

“We run a number of classes from Scruffiest Scamp to Best Pedigree, so it really is for everyone no matter what kind of dog you have.

“The best Trick class is always a highlight, as is the Fancy Dress, especially at Halloween.”

Talking about the prizes on offer, they said: “We have lovely rosettes for 1st to 6th place.

“Any dog placing 1st in a class will be automatically entered into the Championship at the end of the day to determine the ‘Best In Show’.

“The winner will receive a beautiful rosette and a Halloween themed hamper for both Dog and Handler.”

Do you think your dog might up for some Halloween fun? Or, maybe you think you have the sewing skills to make them a winning costume?
