Liverpool comedian John Bishop set to present brand new ITV Saturday Night comedy show

Comedian John Bishop is set to host a brand new ITV Saturday night talk show.

Viewers of The John Bishop Show will see the Liverpool funny-man perform his traditional stand-up sketches while also welcoming a series of celebrity special guests.

The award-winning comedian is currently on his major UK stand-up tour Right Here Right Now.

John said: ” We’ve been discussing making a Saturday night show for ITV for a while and I am so glad that we are finally going to be doing it.

“We want it to be up to date and topical, whilst also fitting the energy and fun that Saturday nights on ITV is known for.”

Bishop, 52, has also dabbled in a career in acting, having acquired roles in E4 hit series Skins, the BBC anthology Accused, and ITV’s 2017 drama, Fearless.

It was also announced earlier this year that the dad-of-three would also be starring in series 13 of Doctor Who as timelord Jodie Whittaker’s legendary companion, which is due to be aired later this month.

With eight nationwide sell-out tours under his belt, Bishop has also been a favourite fixture on UK television screens in a factual sense, having presented recent BBC series’ John Bishop’s Great Whale Rescue and John Bishop’s Ireland.

The John Bishop Show, which will be co-produced by So Television and Lola TV, will take place over a six-week period and is set to be performed before a live studio audience.

His interviewees will include stars and icons from the worlds of sport, cinema, music and the like. He’ll also be checking in with world-renowned comedians and teams of stand-ups.

Katie Rawcliffe, Head of Entertainment at ITV, said: “The John Bishop Show is the perfect Saturday night fix; celebrity tales, hilarious stand-up comedy and showcasing new global talent. John’s charismatic on-air style will delight viewers and guests alike.”
