Bargain Hunt has once again teamed up with BBC Children in Need for a special celebrity episode.
This year will see Cold Feet star John Thomson and BBC newsreader Reeta Chakrabarti join their daughters to battle it out on the hit antiques game show to raise money for Pudsey.
In a toy-themed episode, generations collide as John is joined by daughter Olivia to compete against Reeta and her daughter Roxy.
Presenter Natasha Raskin Sharp will host the one-off special where teams have one hour and £300 to spend at a huge antiques and toy fair in Malvern, Worcestershire, guided by experts Tim Weeks and Thomas Forrester.
They must choose three items, two of which must be toys, with the aim of raising the most money for Pudsey.
Reeta Chakrabarti said: “I love a bargain, and I’m quite competitive, so taking part in Bargain Hunt for BBC Children in Need was a perfect challenge! Roxy and I had a very happy hour hunting for treasures and we learned a lot.”
Once the famous faces and their daughters have picked their items they will head to an action-packed charity auction at Bishton Hall in Staffordshire, where auctioneer Charles Hanson will wield his gavel to sell the teams’ items.
Other special lots and one-off experiences were also sold in aid of BBC Children in Need, including show tickets, behind the scenes TV tours and a ‘Strictly’ scoring paddle signed by the professional dancers.
Comedian and actor, John Thomson said: “It was great fun being on the TV classic “Bargain Hunt” but more importantly raising money and awareness for charities supported by BBC Children in Need all at the same time.”
As part of the programme, John also visited The Joshua Tree charity in Northwich, Cheshire which receives funding from BBC Children in Need to help support families affected by childhood cancers.
Presenter Natasha Raskin Sharp added: “To be part of a programme that shines a light on the wonderful work that BBC Children in Need supports is a real privilege. And what a pleasure it was to meet Reeta and John, their daughters were a credit to them.”
In 2020, Bargain Hunt raised more than £138,000 for BBC Children in Need and they’re hoping that viewers will help them raise even more this year.
This special Bargain Hunt episode will air on Friday, November 19 from 12.15pm on BBC One.
The BBC Children in Need Appeal will take place the same evening from 7pm.
